My Weekly Dispatch

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past week, and see what's coming up.

Hello Reader, how was your weekend? It's the first week of Spring Break for the Puds and they are both looking forward to having some time away from exams. We had snow showers over the weekend, typical March! I did manage to get some gardening done, but not much. I also finished two more squares for my blanket - a sword and a castle. I also watched the last episode of the last season of Merlin last night. What a bittersweet moment! Such a good series.💙

So, what has happened since last we spoke? Let me tell you...

BOOK OF THE WEEK:

WATER WEAVER (WRAIDD ELFENNOL #2)

This is the book that started my writing journey and it remains one of my favourites. Rejoin the World of #WraiddElfennol as Marella and Nixie, the Chosen of Water, learn how to work with those of other Elements to save the world as they know it.

DAREN ~ LANI ~ KAI ~ MARELLA

ULA ~ SHAW ~ KENNA ~ NIXIE

Edlin and Riva watched Marella as she turned back towards the bonfire. They saw her head move so that she could see towards the north. There stood Daren with Ula by his side. Together they stepped forward until they stood in the place that Demi had just vacated.

“We are the Chosen of Lady Daire – called to represent Earth, the senses, and our ability to manifest our desires.”

Daren’s voice boomed out so that he could be clearly heard by everyone in the main square and sounded as deep as the earth itself. Ula let out a spine-tingling howl as she lent her voice to the occasion.

Lani moved forward, showing no sign of the shyness that had been with her earlier. “We are the Chosen of Lord Adaryn – called to represent Air, our thoughts, and our ability to have a sense of self.” Lani’s voice was filled with the power of the winds. With a screech, Shaw circled above her head before landing on the ground next to her.

Then it was Kai’s turn and he stepped up to the bonfire with Kenna at his side. “We are the Chosen of Lord Ethon – called to represent Fire, our passion and ideas, giving us the ability to make decisions.” Kenna gave a bark followed by the fox’s call often mistaken for a woman in distress, known as the Vixen’s Scream.

It was time for Marella to complete their circle. She looked at her parents before looking down to see Nixie by her side. “Ready?” she thought to him.

Always,” he replied.

Together they walked into the light and felt the heat of the bonfire upon their faces. She raised her voice to the sky and said, “We are the Chosen of the Lady Erwyna – called to represent Water and our emotions, giving us the ability to be moved by feelings.” Nixie gave the loud scream that was usually only used by otters when they were threatened. Marella had never heard him make this noise before and she felt it down into her very marrow.

The four humans, acting again as one, all raised their arms in the same manner as the Elders had not so long ago. They stood facing the bonfire and the crowd was silent behind them.

The bonfire continued to blaze and as they watched, the centre grew brighter and brighter, until no one could look at it directly any more. Out of the centre of the heat and light, came a flaming bird. At first the shape was indistinct but gradually the figure became clear. The bird was slightly larger than Shaw but had long, flowing, graceful wings that appeared to be made of flames. There was a crest of feathers upon her head under which her eyes shone like sapphires as she looked around at the people gathered there. Her flaming feathers ranged in colour from yellow gold, to rose, to red, and deep gold.

She stayed above the bonfire with her wings spread wide, seemingly not needing them to stay aloft. The air whipped and crackled around her but Marella and the others stayed where they were.

“I am Ena, and I have been sent here with a message for you all. There is a thief amongst you,” she said to the people. Her voice was filled with the hissing of fire and yet was deep enough that everyone could feel her words within their breastbones.

“Four symbols of our Lords and Ladies have been stolen, and the very Elements themselves are in a fury. Only upon the return of these symbols will peace be amongst the Elements once more. The fate of all of you rests upon these eight. Make sure you do all you can to help them as you would help yourself. You have but a year and a day.”

With these final words, she raised her wings above her head, her feathers still flashing and sparking with colour and light before she vanished with a clap of thunder and a sweet, haunting melody that faded away.

Beitou Public Library in Taipei, Taiwan

Reading just got a lot greener with the ecological design of the Beitou Public Library. The slanted roof of the two-story wooden facility captures rainwater which is stored for use within the structure’s lavatory; the large French-style ushers in natural light, reducing electricity consumption. Complete with balconies overlooking native flora, the Beitou Public Library feels as though you’ve stepped into a literary treehouse.

Mamma Mia - Here We Go Again!

Mr Shep wasn't feeling so good and wanted an evening in bed, watching The Expanse again. So the Puds and I spent a girlie time downstairs, watching Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia - Here We Go Again. I have my issues with the second one, but I still love it! Have you watched them both? What do you think?

Last week didn't see much writing at all as Mr Shep and I were busy preparing documentation needed for an important meeting regarding updating our home. The meeting happened on Friday evening so now we have to wait for everything to be ticked and stamped before we can think about doing anything. Hopefully, now that's over, I can think about words again! 💙

What are you up to? Do you have any special plans or events coming up? Let me know if you fancy sharing.

If you want daily updates, don't forget to join my FB group - Morgan's Musings.

Don't forget to check the book below - another new release from the #FaRo Authors! Until next week...

Take care and have fun! 💙

We were not chosen — we died.

In modern-day Boston, CEO Markus Embla constantly seeks release from irrepressible anger. But when a chance meeting with an alluring stranger triggers a sudden and intimate flashback to a past life, Markus’ hard-fought-for control begins to unravel.

Having left his politically influential family to pursue a less prestigious career as a nurse, Faron Ask struggles alone with immersive, often ominous, dreams. When the line between nightmare and reality merges, he reaches out for help from the one constant in both – Markus.

Drawn irresistibly to each other, the pair entwine at breakneck speed as they fight to discover the truth about their forgotten shared history. But traitorous winged Valkyries, shape-shifting assassins and rune-scarred sorceresses are intent on keeping them apart, to prevent their ancient powers from rekindling.

Because their ignorance is the condition of others’ lives — lives that will not be willingly sacrificed.

The battle for Ragnörak begins in A Kingdom of Dreams, the first volume in the Viking Bloodlines Saga.

My Weekly Dispatch Time to catch up on what's been happening this past week, and see what's coming up. Hello Reader, how's your weekend going? I've finished my second week of work and received my very first payslip since we moved to Germany! Woohoo, go me! This week has been a little easier as my cold is finally going. The weather has been a little crazy though, and we've had snow and hail storms. It is supposed to be warming up to 'normal' April temperatures this week, just as we move into...

My Weekly Dispatch Time to catch up on what's been happening this past week, and see what's coming up. Hello Reader, how's your weekend going? This past week has gone by in a blur! The Puds are 'enjoying' being back at school and are already counting down the weeks to the summer holiday! As for me, well, my first week went as well as it could considering I was knocked off my feet with a horrible flu-like cold. It started last Saturday, got worse on Sunday, and I can't remember much of...

My Weekly Dispatch Time to catch up on what's been happening this past week, and see what's coming up. Hello Reader, how's your weekend going? For the Puds, it's time to get ready for school again, as they're back Monday morning. And for me, I'm busy sorting everything out for my new job! I'm excited but apprehensive too. It's been 13 years since I last worked anyway for pay - not including my volunteering in the school library. I have no idea about what hours I'll be working so until I do,...
